I'm headed there in a few weeks for a week. I plan to bring along my kayak and chase redfish and specks. I know what lures to use but I have never fished that type of environment for these fish. I'm used to coasting grass flats, not all those winding salt marsh canals. Has anyone fished this type of environment in October that can give me pointers?
Am I better off fishing low and rising tides or high and falling tides? My guess is high and falling but the times are more favorable to do the opposite. It's a vacation with a little fishing mixed in, not a strict fishing trip so I don't want to be getting up at crazy hours to fish if I don't have to. On high tide do I need to creep up in those winding canals to find reds or will they be closer to the mouth that empties into the larger canals?
