I was reading an old article on turkey hunting and the author said he used a 'canvas turkey wing flapper' to simulate a turkey flapping its wings on the ground.
I had not heard of this before and a google search only brings up the article I was reading.
Anyone ever made or used such an item?

In the past, when I have been fairly close to a gobbling turkey, I've used my hat to beat against my leg to simulate turkeys flying down. With that said, I rarely get that tight any more. I typically let them fly down and gobble on their own, then I figure out which direction they are wanting to go, get in front of them and attempt to call them to the gun. Killing them off the limb is fun, and can be done, but the odds are not in your favor. They have about 320° they can go and get around you and be out of gun range. My .02

If all the hat folks would try and/or hear someone use a real wing they'd never do the hat thing again. The hat deal sounds like a dude slapping a hat on his leg not really anything like a turkey flying down :D

However, turkeys are gullible and fall for it
