Anyone work on ATVs?

I have a 2001 Suzuki Quad-Runner. While I was riding it today it quit and started smoking from around the batt. It lost all lights and does not start. Electric start does nothing. Pull start turns over but will not start. Any advice greatly appreciated.

sounds like something shorted out have you checked your fuse box

Check Cdi box
its close to the battery under front fender.
when they fry they smoke
