Are decoys overused?

Do you think a lot of the hunters on the WMAs will be hunting field edges like people usually do? Would I possibly have an advantage if I stick to the woods without a decoy when I hunt on the WMA? Or do the turkeys not care....

It seems most turkey hunters are obsessed with fields anymore. I do not remember ever seeing so many folks willing to sit in a blind and stare at a decoy spread in hopes a turkey blunders by.

I agree, fields are way overrated in turkey hunting, the only time I ever consider hunting a field is right after a rain or during a good rain, the birds in my area seem to use our field quite often during those times, but other than that I'm deep in the woods 99% of the time

i go were the birds are going, if they are flying down into a cut corn field or wheat field in the morning then that is where i will be...however the sec they leave that field or dont fly into it i am OUT on the hunt! I will hunt them ANYWHERE they may be and cross any obstacle to get to them, even a 4ft creek in early spring (water is still pretty cold that time of year btw lol)thank goodness i am 6'3 or it may have been even worse then it was.
