Are We in the Lull Period?

i went 2 days. heard constant gobbling in the mornings until they hit the ground and afternoons. couldnt call them in, my guess they are still with hens. havent seen any signs of nesting yet.

Should be about coming into 3rd phase about now. Hunting should be real good for next week or two.

Its been a touch slow here for the last week or so but still pretty good hunting most mornings!

This morning was the first morning I had ever gone to this farm and not at least heard one gobble during turkey season. Head scratcher for sure.

It always drops off after the second week where i hunt. All the time people say its gets better late in the year but I never hear much late.We kill almost all our gobblers the first two weeks of season and after that it pretty much is over on our leases.

I didn't hear a gobble Sunday morning or this morning but my neighbor killed one yesterday morning and said the bird gobbled 100 times. I ended up on a golf course this afternoon and saw 5 longbeards that we drove within range of. Me and another guy started making calls with our mouths and had one of them gobbling. Two had paintbrushes for beards. I was ready to leave the course and go to the woods.

I believe we are currently in Phase 2 here in Giles County. I went to a 500 acre farm this morning and did not hear a single gobble. Gobbling activity has significantly diminished over the last week in areas I hunt.

Very little gobbling in Lincoln county yesterday AM. There were lots of birds out and they were not with their hens!

Looks like you are in my neighborhood. Good verification you are seeing the same behavior I am seeing.

I don't think it has ever really started over here. Just not been hearing many gobbles and it's 20 days into season. Hear on average 2-3 gobbles a morning and then they shut up.

heard a few this morning on roost but for the first time in a few weeks actually heard more once they hit the ground.

if not for a DANG GROUP OF DEER blowing at me and running past the gobbler out at 50yds from me #3 would be riding in the back of the truck right now.

Well, I have been 4 times since my original post and have heard maybe 3 gobbles the whole time. I have been covering some serious ground with no luck. Hoping we get one last little spurt but starting to wonder....

Hunted Lincoln County Sat AM and very little gobbling. Noted toms in groups without any hens. They are staying predictable in there daily pattern. A little to predictable for their own good. Results @ 0620 one eating dirt with a 9.5 inch beard and 1.25 spurs. Life is good.

Not around Maury county. A little less gobbling on the roost than usual, but had a tom gobbling a heck of a lot while in his strut zone with hens yesterday.
