Mettenberger played around the same amount of time as mariota. He looked good. He had a worse comp%, and also threw a pick. He was playing against a worse defense than marioTa. Mario threw the pick and fumbled against the starters.
I too think zach mettenberger should start.
Locker quit. Thank goodness. The Titans were paying him to get hurt on first contact every year.

i like zac. but all camp reports indicate he is not on the level as mariota. 7 for 8 is pretty good for his first game, on the road, in a new system against a solid Defense. Zac just isn't the athlete that mariota is. mariota will be ready by week 1. he was one pick away from a perfect game, minus a freak fumble. made some great throws

The pitch was his a little high and behind.

Mariota threw a few really good balls.

I actually think he can be a Good NFL QB,not great, but seeing that 1st Drive he is simply not ready to play. Need a Year , maybe 2 on the Bench to get adjusted to NFL style defenses. But with the way The Sports Media is they will demand he plays.

Just as I said,he is not NFL ready. Will he make his second contract. Who knows.

That is amazing badnole. The way you can be so sure about a player after watching him take his first few snaps in the nfl. especially when you didn't watch! :) he had no blocking and got sacked and fumbled, and threw a pic on a busted play. Settled down a bit and made some great throws I thought. But myself and everyone else obviously doesn't know football the way you do. How come you aren't an nfl scout? Or are you?
I'm looking forward to the future hall of famer winston showing us how a real rookie looks on his first few possessions.

baddnole needs mariota to fail. darkness always seeks to destroy light. I like Mettenberger as well, but he is not the athlete that mariota is. perhaps, mettenberger reminds him of winston.....Painfully unathletic, untoned, slow and gets in trouble in bars lol

Something doesn't add up redblood. You say "i like zac." Then you say "here is why Baddnole really admires Mettenberger i would wager. sound familiar. His kind of feller." Dang redblood we like the same kinda people. Now I'm happy.

This is another reason I don't like ESPIN and The SEC as a whole. Always covering up somethings and then trying to destroy others that aren't in the SEC.How many more of these SEC boys you holding out on redblood. I didn't watch the whole game, how did your thug wide receiver do? Has MarioTA straightened him up yet?

Jameis Winston may fail as a NFL QB, I don't think so but you and mudbone profess to know much more than I do. I have stated that MarioTA is probably a good QB ,but needs time to learn the NFL. I will not judge either on 1 preseason game against the third team.Let them play a couple real games when it counts. Mettenberger will probably start.

I see the light just fine redblood. I don't need MarioTA to fail or Winston to be the best ever. I still believe Winston will be waaay better than MarioTA.LOLOL

i should have made myself clearer. i like mettenberger as a passer, but do not admire him as a person and do not think he is athletic enough to play the position. i was upset when they drafted beckham and as far as Mariota straightening him up, only time will tell.

On a side note, i all schools should take notes on how Georgia handled mettenbergers sexual assault (which was grabbing a girl on the butt and breasts in a drunken stupor). They kicked his butt off the team!!!

glad your vision is holding up baddnole. That way you can see winston throw about 25 picks this year

Dang! I didn't know mettenberger plead guilty to a sex crime! Scratch the idea of me thinking he should start, or even be on the team! I would rather lose with mariota than win with a perverted woman groper. Turn the Hawaiin lose! Mettenberger could be winstons backup. Whitehurst looked good enough to play backup for mariota.

Exactly what I was thinking. He threw one pick on a miscommunication and everyone's already writing him off! Give him sometime to settle in and work the kinks out and I think he'll be a great quarterback. Zac's good but Mariota has a lot more potential. Mariota is a great leader also..I'd take him any day of the week over that crab lovin/rapist Winston.

You say now mariota will probably be good. What happened to your predictions that he will be working at espn in two years?
You also said you wouldn't judge either qb on their first preseason game but said that after watching one drive it's obvious that mariota isn't ready for the nfl. I'm a bit slow and easily confused.
