Battery maintenance

Carry/home defense I change batteries annually but I handle them fairly often so check them every week or 2. Other red dots I change batteries when they go dim or dead.

That being said I am switching over to Holosun SCS on my carry/home defense so I don't have to change batteries anymore. Have a SCS 320, SCS carry and a SCRS so far.

Fiber optic? Tritium? Both?

So all these optics with batteries….. how often do you guys check on them, change them out?

Thanks
When they die if button battery or non leaking type batteries. On my EOTech's I only use Energizer Lithium AA when needed; meaning they are not in the optics unless it's go time. They are co-witnessed with iron sights with fiber optic front pins.

I have had the same battery in the laser grip on my carry Glock 23 for years, and it is still bright, I will change it when it goes out, it has night sights so not worried about it going out in an inopportune time. Everything else, I keep fresh batteries available if I am going to be using it for an extended period of time and will change them out if the item starts dimming or flashes the batt symbol which some things have.

Solar charging with super capacitors/built-in battery with multi-directional light sensors for auto brightness. They are green dot and should be ready whenever I pickup the weapon and have a usable brightness, I should only have to worry about aiming then.

Just got them a couple weeks ago so time will tell on how well they stay charged, so far the reticle has been very good under alot of different lighting conditions, will test with NV this weekend.

I don't use them on carry guns, I have them on a couple of range guns. I just keep extra batteries in my range bag. I use to try to change them out every year, but I still had one dead when I went to shoot, so now I just change them when needed.
