Be careful out there

This same thing happened years ago on KY lake. A guy went through the old 68-80 bridge pilons when the water was just above the supports that went from one to the other(obviously a bad design). Motor ended up in the boat with him and killed him.
happened in big bottoms too. that guy was running about 50 and hit some stumps. dude was very lucky, hit the passenger side.

That's definitely a freak accident! Prayers sent for Cody!!
It actually just happened to another guy but he avoided getting hit with his motor. It was up on the back deck with him. Thats where i first saw the mention of the leash. It must be more common than we think to have a product dedicated to it.

Looking at the pic, the transom was completely wrecked. Isn't that what those outboard leashes attach to? I'm not saying it wouldn't help but I don't see how a couple eye bolts would keep a big outboard out of the boat
It attaches to the side of the motor mount. In the picture above it wouldve prevented the motor from flipping into the boat. It attaches to the black part thats still attached to the jackplate/transom

I would think it would have to be a full size tree to do this if it was a floating object??? I'm guessing stump or rock. Either way that's terrible and hope he recovers.
There have been a lot of very large logs on Old Hickory for the last week. Several in the 15-20 foot range. I'm out there 2 or 3 times a week most weeks. I cringe every time I see a boat go by with little more than the prop in the water. There is always something floating in that lake.

I can tell you it's not the time for a comment like that. Be a decent person and keep your thoughts on boat speeds to yourself or start another thread.
Regardless if speed was a factor, nothing in his comment was malicious or false. Nothing at all wrong with what he said.
