Due to family health issues, it's been several years since I've done any serious hunting. Today I got lucky. I think it's been close to 8 years since I shot a bird.
42 steps. 9" beard. 7/8" Spurs, 18#.
Afternoon hunt. I sat in a blind, hen decoy, yelp 3 times about every 30 minutes for 1-1/2 hours starting at 2:30. 4 o'clock, looked down the field and he comes a walking and feeding. When he sees the decoy he takes off running at it until he gets about 30 yards past and stops. Then starting feeding again. I had to pull the barrel in then back out a different window.
When I realized I couldn't see the beard in the picture I pulled the weeds, took a closer shot and didn't realize I cut the fan off.
