just to add to this after fooling with both of them the past month.

in addition to what I said above I also have this.

I much more prefer the safety on the Xbolt (tang) vs the side switch on the bergara. I also prefer the 2 stage safety on the xbolt that locks the bolt unless you press the bolt release button.

Id say the bolt is SLIGHTLY smoother on my xbolt but they are both pretty buttery. I also prefer the flush mount magazine on the xbolt vs the hinge floor plate on the bergara.

But the trigger on the bergara is HANDS DOWN better and more crisp.

Again its not fully apples to apples on my 2 sample sizes. I have an Xbolt Eclipse hunter which is more on their upper end vs a B14 Hunter which is on their lower end.

Here is a post in a local paper. Neither manufacturer but these are great rifles with lifetime warranties. If the barrel even wears out, they will even replace it. I have a .308 and it's sub MOA with almost everything you feed itā€¦l

I have a 5x5 from east of highway 13 and north of Meeker with my 300 WM Browning A-Bolt. I love the X-Bolt but cannot convince myself I need one. I do, However, second RUGER's recommendation that the X gun is hard to knock.

Back in days most ancient I took my 300, my 06, and my 22-250 A-Bolt guns (and a Rem 700 ADL) to a competent gunsmith and had all the triggers adjusted so that each felt the same. Yes, he said some bad words about that but he did a great job.

Highly recommended.

And, as a side note: Browning is still making a lot of A-Bolt guns, must be some reason.
