I fished pickwick lake today, couldn't get them to eat anything but a trap and an A-rig. We had an awesome day on the water. We boated close to 30 fish, best 5 around 25lbs, big fish was a 6 1/2lb largemouth. I had a real giant on but it came unbuttoned halfway to the boat of course. Water temps were 50-51 degrees. Trap and a rig are about the only 2 baits I throw this time of year besides a jig every now and then and a swimbait in the current. If I'm not getting bit on the rig I sometimes will downsize my swimbaits or grubs and that usually does the trick.

about a 4 inch golden shiner.

since no shiners around, get an aquarium net and filter out some freshwater shrimp in the shore weeds, use teeny hook, catch smaller bluegill, they will work good.

I like using Rapala floater/diver about 3 inches long. Blue is best. Then I would try a swimbait, here is what I was using or at least they look alike.

Is still awful early, water temp is around 42-45 yes? Won't most fish be suspended deep?

Could always go trout fishing in the put/take lakes.

4" Berkley Power Worm. My go to. Light line with as light a weight as the wind will allow. Caught a 10lber at Graham on that when I couldn't catch em on anything else. I can work that thing dead slow.
