I tweaked my rig today and went back to 70 lbs and the 300 spine Gold Tip Kinetics. My grouping was noticebly tighter and I didn't "punch" as much cause of the higher holding weight.

I tend to get "lazy" at the wall with lower draw weights cause of the lighter hold weight (80 % let off).

Im really pumped about going back to the 70# draw and 425 grain arrow for hunting. My bow is in better spec maxed out and slightly more quite.

If I feel the need to back down I might get 65% let off mods for my bow.

I've noticed the same thing...there has to be some kind of formula to this to balance it all out.

Take for example the Evo 6 that I had. It came with 70 lb limbs on it and I wanted to go to 60 pound limbs with it so I could actually back it down in the 50s for target shooting.

What it ended up doing was making the bow a ton more easier to draw back...and I loved it for that...but something was bad off with it. It was tuned perfect on a draw board...everything was fine spec wise. But I think the low poundage, coupled with a heavy mass weight bow and high percent letoff, actually hurt me. I was doing the same thing you said...getting "lazy" with it because of little to nothing in the holding weight of the bow at full draw...and my shooting actually got TERRIBLE.

I went back up in draw weight and coupled that with a 65% let off....INSTANT difference. Not as easy to draw back but tremendous change in accuracy.

I think you get a crisper release , better back tension , coupled with a bow that its more efficient at its peak draw weight .
