Why is Blackhorn 209 so dang expensive?

I have about 3/4 of a pound of 777 left but I really want to try some BH 209. I just don't understand why it is so much more expensive than everything else. It just doesn't make sense to change for 2 weeks of muzzleloader.

Because people continue too buy it..🥴

I use real black for around $26.00 a pound..
A muzzle loader wasn't meant to shoot 250 yards accurately .🤷‍♂️

70 grns of Goex fffg & .530 ball gets me around 1400- 1500 fps..

Most days I use less than 7-10 patches too clean my guns..
Its not that much trouble..

Like the previous poster said....It will last forever....one shot to check zero then one shot for your deer. The potential for a decade of use per jug is present getting the price down to less than a dollar a season.

I never really thought about it from that aspect. Back when I shot pellets, I stored them in a ziplock bag in my gun safe. When to check zero before the season and had a delayed fire twice so I tossed the rest of the box and went back to 777 powder. I guess I might just have to get a bottle of BH and finally make the swap.
Thanks for everyone's opinion.

Made in Canada so its going to get more expensive even due to tarriffs

Triple 7 is made in the USA

So if folks want to pay over 100 dollars for a 8 oz container, go do it

I like that I can shoot 8-10 accurate shots without having to swab. It does clean much easier. It seems to have quite a long shelf life in a controlled environment. It is ridiculously expensive. I usually shoot 3-5 shots/year so the extra $$ is negligible to me.

That will be good enough for me to discontinue using BH 209 and revert back to my old original Pyrodex. 👍🏼 May have a few bottles for sale soon.
