Congratulations on a really nice buck.
We have a winner. Omentum is in em all and does some pretty amazing things. It will even try to plug holes in the abdomen from wounds. It's not the peritoneum, it's the omentum. Another place folks and animals can store fat. Perfectly normal.
You da' Man!It's not the peritoneum, it's the omentum. Another place folks and animals can store fat. Perfectly normal.
Actually, it's called omentum. A very vascular fatty sheath. It's purpose is the bodies first line of defense in case of bowel injury. It'll wrap the area and help seal damaged area and promote healing. It's called the Peritoneum. All mammals have it. Even us!
Yup. And supposedly, it's delicious. Unlike the tallow fat. It's caul fat. Steven Rinella from Meateater uses it to cook with. He's actually a big proponent of keeping it for use in cooking.
I need to quit posting after a day of looking at 10,000 trail-cam photos. My brain is mush at that point.Actually, it's called omentum. A very vascular fatty sheath. the peritoneum is a Saran wrap like thin layer that coats the entire abdominal cavity. It even coats the testes as it gets pushed out when the testicles descend into the scrotum through the inguinal ring.
Not trying to be a smart ass but all those anatomy lectures come in handy.
