Black Duck

I saw a solid jet black duck with a pale yellow beak on a flooded ditch in a remote area on Monday. I turned around and made another pass to be sure as I've not see one like that (see a lot of wood ducks in that area). Would this be a long lost domestic of some type or is there a wild duck that is totally jet black? Sorry, no picture.

Black scotor comes to mind, killed a handful in ETN and EKY.

Probably some sort of cross breed duck. I've also seen black scoters on Tn river
