Blew it...

Had a couple of hrs to hunt late this morning behind the house. Called a few times and heard nothing. Waited ~30 minutes and called one last time and he gobbled right behind me and to my right. Strutted back and forth for several minutes then started to walk off. I tried to squirm around for a parting shot and got busted. Oh well, great experience just no meat.

Sucks, but it happens. I blew it for my nephew this morning. Set up and he was roosted right where I was hoping. Hit the ground and gobbled where I wanted him to land. Came out of the woods perfectly and got in front of us at 15 yards. I forgot to turn the red dot on and when I did he couldn't see anything. Kept messing with it and this .410 I haven't used much and didn't know the red dot comes on at the lowest power. Finally got it brighter and he got squirrelly and moved off. We watched him up until 1030 or so with hens.
