Boated out a goodern!!!

some random fella pulled up with a tape measure. He said 19 inches. let me see though. 19-20 inches inside in most spots. I guessed he'd probably go 130 inches anyway.

My wife flat out does not want anymore shoulder mounts in the house.
I think you are underestimating him.

I am pretty lucky with the mounts, my wife likes them, of course some are hers.😉

A few of my traditional go to spots didn't have any deer activity. So I was gonna give something new a try today. I got in there, and setup. I hadn't visited this spot since last year, so I figured I'd have the surprise on whatever was using the area.

Took longer to get to than I remembered and my waypoints got deleted off my gps so I was trying to remember my tree. I found the tree and started climbing at 6:30a.

I'm not awful picky and can be a bit trigger happy.

I always climb with all my stuff. It's important to be ready at all times. I'm halfway up the tree when boom! There he is coming right for me! I put the scope on him and can see he is a 4 point. I tried adding extra points or making him look bigger but it didn't work.

I passed him. He's not really what I wanted. He looked to be trying to circle downwind of me, but hung up in a thicket. I finish climbing up to a good height and tether off.

I used a doe bleat several times then went back and used a tending buck grunt. I bumped the doe bleat a few more times. Then waited and watched.

I kept hearing rustling in the briar patch but didn't see anything. 20 minutes goes by and I look over and there's a big buck standing there 50 yards away chomping on green briars and honeysuckle.

Click Bang!!! smoke goes everywhere, I've got nothing!!! No tail flicker no shaking bushes no idea where this deer went or if I hit him. I reload the ML. I ranged the spot he was standing and dropped a pin on my gps for where he should've been.

My confidence says yeah you couldn't miss. I wait my 30 minutes then go to looking. I ease over there and look over and see him. His head is still up and his eyes are open. His hind quarter is facing me and I'm surrounded by briars. I eased up a bit and shot him through the neck. I didn't want him suffering anymore.

I don't deserve this buck. I was truly blessed by God this hunt. It was an awesome boat ride back home.

Merry Christmas 😂😂
