Never fails every spring I blow a couple of shots, this time was just like last weekend, but on a different lake. I arrived at Dale hollow yesterday to fish for carp. I woke up this morning to a bird gobbling across the water. I went over and set up on a ridge, but the bird was in Kentucky. It took me over an hour but I called him in, heard him drum just over the rise. Finally he was there, looking at me, about to bust me. I had the ghost ring on his neck and fired a shot and watched him fly off across the hollow. No I'm not going to put a scope on my gun. I pulled the shot I'm sure just like last week when I shot a tree trunk. Get too excited can't hold still when it counts.

Never turkey hunted out here just brought my stuff and I heard one gobbling so I went after it. Lots of corps land but don't know how many birds are out here. If I hear one fire up again I'm reeling in the lines and going after it again. Pisses me off I can't pull together half the time I shoot one.

It happens to me to cat. I usually rush the shot as soon as my sights get near the target. I have missed 2 this year

I still don't see how you hit the giant tree in the video. Just keep at it, there are a few birds around there. Guessing your getting soaked today though.

his head was to the left in my sight but apparently I pulled it off that far.

Yes it happens but man you have a fairly high count of misses and big misses. You really need to spend some time at the range getting muscle memory on good form and keep visualizing shots on target. You have to sure up form and technique so it becomes 2nd nature rather then thinking about it.

Not bashing you at all just seems you haven't really corrected the issue and it's still ongoing at a pretty high rate.

Do you think your anticipating recoil and jerking? Maybe try hunting with a auto 20 gauge some and see if it help? With the new loads, you won't be handicapped much, heck I've gone 20 gauge only now.

You are trying too hard to get the kill. Relax and enjoy the hunt. When it is time to shoot slow down and breathe through the trigger pull. Hold on this head for a second before starting to pull the trigger.

I have the same problem with the bow. Just have to hold the emotions until after the shot.

Are you possibly shooting and looking for the hit at the same time? If so you may be pulling off target by doing so. I know that accounts for a lot of misses or bad hits deer hunting.

Not knocking u but you miss more in a year than I have in my life. I definitely would do something to make my gun more accurate. I know hate red dots but I haven't missed a turkey in years with one. Keep at it. You will figure it out

nothing on the range can simulate a gobbler looking at me from 30 yards away. There's no adrenaline rush of shooting paper, I shoot paper fine. When there's a critter standing there, I get nervous and rush the shot.

The bird is fine, I heard him gobble about an hour later when I was back at camp eating breakfast. If I get a break in the rain long enough I'm going back after him. Maybe tomorrow morning.

Agreed but having shot guns for 27years I can tell you with certainty that repetitive practice makes those times much easier. It's all about muscle Memory and training you body to do good form without thinking about it

Having said that you do whatever you want to do, my only point is you have had the same issues at a high percentage for a few years now so maybe try something else to correct it rather then adding band aids like scopes and sights to fix the issue.

Maybe so, I wouldn't know cause I only shoot a handful of times each year. All I do know is it's entirely different shooting a tom than shooting a picture of one.

I don't know. I guess I've been lucky. My nerves are afterwards. I go into kill mode and can't remember last time I missed. Ren is right Man U miss a lot. We not griping on u just saying there is a better way. Good luck with him. Maybe 3 or 4 deep breathes before pulling trigger. Shoot it like a rifle. That's what my wife does and she's never missed.

By that logic the military should quit wasting time shooting at plates and shapes. It's all in visualization and practice.

Tape a tiny note onto the rear of your shotgun receiver so you can see it when sighting that says AIM! I have one on the riser of my bow that says SLOW DOWN and honestly can't remember the last time I missed. That little note will be a constant reminder as tommy works his way to the gun.

Agree with ren. Also I enjoy your videos just as everyone else does but that's a major distraction in your focus of what your doing. I've tried it done it and yeah it was ok but also at the same time instead of focusing on the hunt and what I needed to be doing I was trying to make sure I was zoomed in bird in the frame etc...
