Breaking News - Updated CFP Rankings!!!

Been traveling a lot for work this week and that seems to be when I catch up on this stuff.

A few reasons why I'm feeling better today. First, the committee has three B1G teams in the top 6 and 5 in the top 15. Regardless of our own bias, that shows me how the committee views the B1G and their view counts. Second, Long was asked in his press conf why NC was 10 and OSU 6 since Sagarin/USAT SoS has both teams close in SoS. Long answered that's not the SoS data they look at and they look at a variety of data points. Third, and most important, Long said OSU is "clearly" ahead of NC. If NC wins, that helps OSU. Stanford might get in but I don't think so with two losses. Chaos could reign this weekend.

If NC wins convincigly, OSU will no longer be "clearly" ahead of them.

It's my bet that the committee is praying for Alabama and Clemson to win out this Saturday. If UNC or Florida pull the upset then they're going to have some tough decisions to make/justify. Particularly if Stanford wins. It could get real ugly.

There are those who think the committee is biased in favor of Alabama and Ohio State. I think that's just another conspiracy theory without any credence. I do think the committee last year and this year is striving to get the best 4 teams in and the various data points from conference championships to SoS are just that - data which the committee has emphasized are "guidelines."

its comical actually
The following lists the number of games played vs teams that will be participating in bowl games (includes games to be played Saturday)

Alabama 11
Stanford 10
Michigan St 9
Oklahoma 8
Clemson 7
Ohio State 6
No Carolina 6
Iowa 5

the people that know football understand why BAMA is in there. the clowns that don't know college football, well..........there you go. 94-12 since 2008 don't hurt either

* Edited. Post misinterpreted by a travel wary occasional Clown. But he sticks to his opinion that Clay Travis is a jerk.

Mudbone, your response got me to thinking. I know, that can be dangerous. I don't don't think teams chances of appearing in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl or Taxslayer.com Bowl garner much attention from the committee. Apparently best win doesn't either. If the teams were ranked according to best win, this would be the current top 7:

1- MSU (best win over #6 OSU)
2- Clemson (best win over #9 FSU)
3- Okla (best win over ## 11 TCU and #12 Baylor)
4- Stanford (best win over #8 ND)
5- Iowa (best win over #14 NW)
6- OSU (best win over #15 Mich)
7- Alabama (best win over #21 LSU)

What do you consider nd's biggest win this year vermin? Stanford or Clemson?

Not relevant to me exposing Bammer and the SEC as potentially overrated this year.

All I want for Christmas is the SEC to have a losing record in the bowls.

Still waiting for Bammer to win a big game this year.

You forgot to end your post with Roll Tide.
Most every SEC game is a big game. Ga, LSU, UT, Ar, and auburn. Any of these teams would spank ND ..
GA and Auburn would need some luck on that one.

There goes HH spreading silly myths again.

The SEC is down and out this year just like it was last year, yet some like HH remain in denial. :rotf:

I'm in Georgia for a job interview tomorrow. There was a shift in the wind a little while ago. It was coming out of the west and I swear I could smell the stink blowing in from Tuscaloosa. I've learned that one of the executives I have to interview with is 100% certified grade-A Bammer. Looks like I will have to bite my tongue. ;)

"Sports experts". ROFLMAO. May I let you in on what must be a secret only to you? Big bad Bama was #1 at the end of the regular season last year. They finished #3. Whoever they play in the playoff will have a comparable defense to Bama and a better offense and QB than any team they've played this year in the overrated, media created "best conference in the world, ever" for the first time since they got blown out by Ohio State in last year's Sugar Bowl. I'm sure Tom Herman didn't share all the secrets.
