Food Plots BSK.

Outside this minimal shot for the next three days, models don't look good for the rest of August. Of course, this is for western Middle TN. Nashville and to the east look pretty good. But most of the long-range models (total precipitation accumulation) have a big "donut hole" of little to no precip right over my area for the next 15 days.

If I hadn't planted, this wouldn't have happened. It's all my fault. Blame me. The Rain Gods hate me.

I don't think the Gods are looking down on only you, our last rain of any meaning of 8 tenths was 7-22. since then only 3 tenths 3 different times. Only thing growing is crabgrass. Deer have already eaten all three acres of corn and have taken out most of the milo heads.

And of course, we got virtually nothing after I planted. 0.07". Didn't even knock the dust down. And now the Drought Monitor is calling for worsening drought conditions over the next month.

I can't win for losing...

I thought we were the only ones with that problem. They wiped out the beans and there is just a few ears of corn left. Crabgrass has completely taken over. We went ahead bushhogged it all down before (I think) the seed heads were viable. Will spray with gly when we start drilling, which won't be anytime soon.

That heat is the killer. Up near 100 several days next week.

The models are back and forth on the rain chances Thursday and Friday. Right now, they are looking the worst they have looked since those chances first came up.

Well, all the models changed overnight. Originally, all of the models saw the weak front that storms could form near push through TN fairly quickly Friday and be down in the Deep South States over the weekend, keep the rains confined farther south. Now the models have all switched to the front NOT making it through TN and hanging up across the state, providing more opportunities for rain over the weekend. This is producing a forecast of more rain than had been earlier expected around Nashville, with totals declining the closer one is to Memphis.

Longer term models I'm seeing is for next rain Sept 3, with another good chance on Sept 7.

Picked up seed and lime Thurs.

I sprayed 5 plots, limed 2 plots, bogged 1 plot yesterday, plus pushed open some shooting lanes with the dozer.

My plan is to drill the 5 plots Sept 2 IF the rain chances materialize, then spray the remaining 5 plots and drill them just before the 2nd rain event (higher ground, and I'd prefer to drill them with a little moisture already in the ground.

Between land owners thinking planting by end of August is a must, 7000 lbs of seed in the barn, no rain ANNND an impending left knee replacement on September 3, I am having an anxiety attack nearing that of the 2020 presidential election!

To make matters worse I have faith in my guys until one of the owners thinks he needs to intervene and get shiatsu done… !!! 😬😬😬
