Bucks moving!

Had one 7pt come through checking a scrape at first light about a week ago and since then haven't seen any bucks or does on camera at all in East TN. Very warm here. Hoping Saturday morning will be good after the rain and a little cooler. I would guess next weekend is when it will really start to pop off. I see rain Wednsday, Thursday, and Friday and cooling off big time starting Thursday and staying cool the next several days with highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s! Looks like the 8th thru the 13th is looking prime! I killed a nice 9point last year on the 11th coming into a rut funnel with a doe right behind me.
Well the 11th is the best day every year..

Since that cold front came through 2(?) weeks ago, haven't been getting hardly any pics. All cameras lit up starting yesterday afternoon through this morning. Looks like it's time for me to warn the wife I'll be out every chance I get for the next month lol
lol I just told my wife this yesterday. I said buck movement is picking up so I plan on hunting a lot till thanksgiving.

I've had steady doe activity on a mock scrap I made Oct 14th and about a week later I had a spike, a 3 point, and a button buck move in. As far as shooter class bucks go though... I haven't seen the first one. Nor have I found any buck rubs. This bow season has been the toughest one I've ever hunted. It's got me hoping and praying that the big boys start showing up in November. I have worn the soles of my boots out this year looking for sign... It's Just slow this season.

I got one pic from a fully mature buck that I've known the past couple years in broad daylight. The only reason he's on this camera is he's actively looking and traveling a bit. My cameras went from a couple does to some young bucks mixed in, to fewer does more bucks with higher age structure going up seemingly everyday.

Lack of rubs, and reduced scraping, is very common in a poor-acorn drought year. Making rubs requires burning precious energy, and the deer don't have a lot of excess energy to burn without plentiful acorns.
