I had not caught one for almost two years. I'm not sure what the deal was although I had heard a few rumors. They used to be about as plentiful Browns and Rainbows then just disappeared a couple years ago. I have finally started to catch a few the last couple weekends. They were mostly pretty small so I'm assuming they were somewhat freshly stocked. Either way, I was happy to see them back in the river. I don't think there are many prettier fish swimming than a colored up Brook Trout.
Overall, fishing has still been fantastic. Great numbers and very good average size. They were even biting great on Labor Day with literally hundreds of kayaks floating by. One nice thing about all the kayaks, there is usually someone around to snap a picture for you. I fish alone most of the time so always end up with crap pictures. This fish was from Labor Day. Heck of a fight on a 7x tippet.
