Catfish Bait for Now

If you were looking to catch a few catfish in a pond right now, this weekend...what would be your bait of choice?

Used to fish my great uncles ponds down in south Alabama and all we ever used was chicken livers. We always caught way more than 16 people could eat.

In a pond I have had great luck with cut up chicken breast. Any kind of cut bait, I've even done well with hot dogs. If none of that works get you some punch bait, it does really well in ponds.

ponds are usually stocked with channels. chicken breasts, turkey livers, nightcrawlers, or dip bait will catch plenty of eaters. if there are any big fish in there cut bait. if they have been conditioned to feed, simple hot dogs will catch them.

Chicken livers or beef heart but the best was those cheap frozen raw jumbo shrimp in frozen food section. We always did the best with shrimp on farm pond channels.
