16/52 alweld with a 90/65 jetWhat kind of boat is that?
Tn river 12-20ft feet where a small feeder creek comes in, night crawlersWhat lake/river, depth, bait and conditions? Plan to take my son next weekend and he is wanting to fish for bream and catfish
Man that was probably a lot of fun but I can't eat them out of lakes or rivers anymore. They taste terrible in my opinion. I have ponds behind the house that I keep them between 20-30 inches and they are delicious. Don't know what has happened because I use to eat them all the time but haven't ate a good tasting river cat in many years just can't stomach them. Hope yours is tasty though congratulations on a nice haul.
Wow never heard that. Most people love pond cats because how clean they are. I've got a spring fed pond that flows constant. It's unbelievable the difference in taste. We had a big fish fry last year and I separated what came from the pond and the river and we decided no more cats get kept from the river it didn't even taste like the same fish.See… I'm the opposite. I can't eat pond fish. Very odd.
I woukd think a clear flowing cold water river would be better than a muddy stagnant ponds, especially if livestock has access to the pond.Wow never heard that. I'd say your right in most cases but I have no livestock on my ponds plus their is constant flow.I woukd think a clear flowing cold water river would be better than a muddy stagnant ponds, especially if livestock has access to the pond.

I'm very particular about filleting them and cutting out any red/yellow ect. I'll also soak mine in water with a little white vinegar for a couple days while replacing the water. I'll admit channels aren't my favorite, I'd rather have big blue's or flatheads. I also grill and blacken a bunch of catfish as well. Very rarely I get a piece of bad fish, but when you do I know the taste…. Just like the river water it came out of.Man that was probably a lot of fun but I can't eat them out of lakes or rivers anymore. They taste terrible in my opinion. Yes sir, that may have been where I went wrong. I didn't soak it. I also don't keep big fish they just aren't as tasty. That 20 inch range is where it's at.I'm very particular about filleting them and cutting out any red/yellow ect. Never kept a blue cat until I went fishing with Richard with Scenic City, we caught several big blues and we filleted them and they were great. Big white flakes great on the grill or fried. My favorite is blackened and on tacos. I target them regularly now on limb lines.Yes sir, that may have been where I went wrong. I didn't soak it.
