CBJ and company getting grimy....

Really? Mentions the Name of a recruit in a tweet, Violation.
Takes a piuture with recuit in background, Violation .
calls the wrong # of a 2017 recruit and gets a 2018!!!! Recruit, Violation.
Walks into basketball game with Recruit crowd cheers, Violation.

Nothing major, Rules are Rules I guess.

Maybe instead of BBall games,Phone calls, and tweets. Coaches need to just Have Sleep overs with 17 year old boys, and climb trees in there front yards.

That seems to be just fine.

No big deal at all. They're all Level 3 violations which are ticky-tack. Read the specifics attached to the article -- in one case a new player posted a twitter picture of himself with a high school buddy who was being recruited, in another an assistant coach called the wrong recruit's parents on the phone and broke off the call as soon as he realized the mistake. Total ticky-tack stuff. Every program has them.

EDIT: Looks like Donkey beat me to the punch. He's right though.

err body doin it

As as matter of fact, err body IS doin it. For example, every year that Alabama beats UT (which, lately, has been ... every year) the tradition is the staff hands out cigars to the players; they then have to turn around on Monday and self-report a violation to the NCAA for unauthorized gifts. I also remember Saban having to self-report a minor violation because he butt-dialed a recruit and didn't even realize it until his staff was reviewing his phone records (that's how bad it is ... they have staff to review EVERY SINGLE PHONE CALL the coaches make). The rules have passed the point of being silly.

that's nothing, give me a break...because a basketball crowd cheers when they see Jones it is a violation. I guess next time they should make an announcement over the PA...Coach Jones is entering the building please refrain from cheering him. A walk on got a few extra tickets to a game for his family.

Probably, but it's mostly been on here :super: !

The real question is why do schools self report minor violations??

A. Because they like telling on their self.
B. Because it helps their rankings.
C. Because it gives Finebaum something to report.
D. Because the school doesn't want the NCAA sniffing around the program.... :)
