It's early with a lot of big games left before being an armchair qb. It's football and one of those teams sputter the list will change. I'm not putting any money just yet!

There is still a ton of football to play folks.

Only 1 of the initial top 4 ended up in the Playoffs last year.
...MS State dropped to 7th Florida State made it in, Auburn dropped to 19th and Ole Miss Dropped to 10th.
Alabama moved from 6th to first, Oregon moved from 5th to 2nd and Ohio State(the eventual winner) moved from way down at 16th to 4th.

Realistically anyone in the top 15 could still somehow get in. One thing that jumps out to me is at this time last year there were only 2 undefeated teams...This year there were 10 when the initial poll was released(9 now that Toledo lost tonight).

"...if, if, if, Notre Dame..blah blah.. all they have to do..if, if, if..Notre Dame..if I had a leprechaun's butt to kiss for luck the Irish would be #4.. ." :smash: :D :rotf:

Definitely will change because Ohio and Michigan state still have to play each other and if Iowa can hold on to the west they will more than likely play the winner of that game. So 2 of those teams will more than likely drop out of the top 10 unless others behind them fall too.

Come on Stanford.

ND just sitting there at 5 waiting to move up.

Also looks like UF could be on outside looking in if they somehow won rest of them and the SEC.

If UF wins out and won the SECCG they would be a lock.
LSU-Bama
Tcu-Baylor
Iowa-MSU all still play each other. If UF handles their business they will get in. Long way to go.

Don't want to burst your bubble but you sure are handy with those if's,may'bes and but's.Florida would need all of them and then some!lol :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I really love this quote from you Trey

If UF handles their business they will get in.lol :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Wrangler your post is worthless to this thread. You are use to hearing that though. :tu:

What does TN need to do to get in??? :rotf:

More ND talk for farmin....

On paper, this is how it should play out:

ND will be favored at Pitt, at home against Wake Forest, and at Boston College. ND should win all 3 of these games due to their superior football talent, but 3 wins are obviously not a given. The Irish should destroy Wake Forest, but Pitt has good athletes and always plays ND very tough. The BC game is being played in Fenway Park, which is the first time a college football game has been played there in a very long time. ND is actually the home team for that game, and the crowd will be fired up. This is a natural rivalry between 2 Catholic universities and BC always brings their A-game against ND. As I'm sure some recall, ND has been on the receiving end of painful losses against the underdog Eagles. BC is not a very good football team this year, but this will be their super bowl and I expect them to pull out all the stops. I wouldn't be surprised if they are already scheming and practicing some plays for the ND game. Regardless, the Irish should win.

Stanford will be favored at Colorado and at home against Oregon and Cal, but anything is possible and Oregon or Cal could pull the upset, although I don't see it happening.

Assuming the favorites win the above games, that would set up a huge game on 11/28 in Palo Alto, where Stanford will almost certainly be favored over ND. That will be ND's chance to seal the deal by beating the likely Pac-12 Champion.

In the meantime, the trail will be cleared as other undefeated and 1-loss teams knock each other out.

Now, I wouldn't put it past ND to lose to Pitt this weekend and ruin the whole dang plan. If ND survives the trip to Pittsburgh, look out!

Even though the CFP poll doesn't matter until December, the rankings are strange in parts. ND ranked #5. Why? Because they lost to Clemson? Because they beat #24 Temple? And speaking of Temple, with one loss, but ranked ahead of AAC conference colleague Houston who just blew out an SEC team??? Why isn't Florida ranked #6? They lost to #2 LSU, so based on the committee's thinking apparently regarding ND, Florida should logically be ranked #6. And, Florida most likely carries a higher SOS than ND. And then Alabama (who I do believe is deserving to be in the top 4, because they are that good) but who lost to Ole Miss at home while Florida blew out Ole Miss, yet Alabama is ranked #4 and Florida #10?????

Art Briles has to be steaming mad. Good.

I can't help but wonder if this beginning poll is just a posturing poll where the committee is actually looking down the road at the back loaded schedules of Ohio State, MSU, Baylor, TCU, etc., but LSU's schedule is also back loaded while Florida's seems to me to have been more frontloaded. Sorry Gator fans, but I think your team got screwed (but at least you'll have the SEC championship game to possibly rectify the situation).

My prediction is within 5 years the CFP will be expanded to 8 teams involving the champions of the Power 5 conference plus the champions of the MAC, WAC, and AAC, Notre Dame will be forced to join a conference if it wants in, and the Big 12 will be forced to have a conference championship if they want in. Alternatively, the top dogs in the MAC, WAC, and AAC will forced to get gobbled up by the Power 5 (and the remaining teams of those conferences will become FCS teams). The committee will be involved only with seeding for the playoffs and possibly selecting only the "wild card" 3 teams if the alternative occurs.

Even funnier is, according to the Vegas Super Book, if the playoff were held today, Alabama is a 3 point favorite over Clemson and Ohio State is a 5.5 point favorite over LSU.
