Got in the woods around 1:00 today and ran this buck and 3 does out as we crested the top of the ridge. Had left my 4-wheeler at the bottom of the hill and my brother dropped me off then kept going. Decided to go ahead and climb a tree there hoping he'd come back. Around 3:15 the good Lord smiled on me as I heard deer running and here came a doe and he was right behind her. His tall rack told me it was him and his body was pretty big. He chased her out in the field but then they came back and I was able to confirm body size. She came 25 yards to my right so I had already shifted in my seat. He was grunting and then walked right in front of me at 30-40 yards and I let the .270 bark. He took off, crashed into a couple of trees and went down. When I gutted him it blew the heart up. I call him a 7 but he has an 8th point right below his left browtine. Not sure what he weighed but he was hefty. Had a time getting him on the 4-wheeler.
