His Hot Hen .....
Solid call no doubt, as is his green glass. A great value at $50 for the pair (when I bought them).

I had a green glass and ended up selling it without ever hunting with it. I didn't think it sounded "sexy" enough. I regret that decision now.

I'm not sure I've ever heard you on anything but a mouth call and it was waaaay above average! And, if you have been following this forum, I usually say what I think. :tu:

Another example is Lonnie Sneed. His calls are $30-35 shipped and they sound fabulous also. I have spent a pile of money on pot calls that are double or more in cost than the ones I mentioned that aren't near as good. There are some really good options that won't break the bank and you'll have a great sounding and quality pot.

Bingo. But, Mr. Sneed's calls are still custom made by him, even though they are very affordable. He could probably get double the price if he wanted.

It's like a musical instrument, the great musicians can make a cheap instrument sound great. I don't need to spend additional money when I can make Mr. Sneed's slate make every call I need.

I use and have used a k&h silver hammer for many years. But I do use a hand turned cedar striker that makes it sound the way it does. So I agree with the striker post above.I just bought another k&h original silver queen off eBay, it sounds better than the hammer, with same striker and even the hickory striker it came with. Also, my brother just bought couple of the custom homely hen calls off eBay, for $22, they sound great!

I must admit, I am a pot call junkie ! I carry 5 with me. I have 2 Hooks, a David Halloran, a Final Steps and a Primos. If the pot call is decent at all a good striker will make it sound great. I also carry 8 or so strikers with me. Its not in the price but the quality and although the two usually go hand in hand there are several good custom made calls for the same price as a production .
