Check your shells

I feel like for how much those cost their customer service should have simple been

"I'm sorry you bought our over priced but very nice shells and had issues. Please keep that box and allow us to send you a free one. Thank you for being a customer".

.......Sending you a free box would have probably made them more money in the long run.
I agree 110%.

"They had been stored in an MTM plastic shell holder in my shop where the temperature varies from 30-35 in winter to maybe 90 in the summer at times."

How come nobody's mentioned improper storage temperatures? You can't expect much more with those extremes. Don't take it the wrong way, but I believe that's added to the trouble here.
You never rabbit or squirrel hunted in the snow or chase turkeys or doves in the heat? Myself wouldn't store them in a non controlled environment but that has zero to do with leaking buffer. Poor crimp and seal

It was mentioned in the 2nd post....as a question.

In my opinion it happens because they are putting too much shot in the hull.... The loads we have had issues with have been the heavier over 2 1/4oz of shot. I never had any trouble with the 2oz loads.

Environ-Metal, Inc technical rep stated they used clear loctite adhesive to seal the shells. He offered to have UPS pick them up, then ship me some new ones, or I could just reseal them. I will probably go with the latter of the two since I will be loading my own TSS loads for this spring.
That is good customer service. I'm still not spending all that money on shells when I can't shoot straight half the time.

have found the same issues with them! they changed the crimp this last year on the hevi-13's. Was very frustrating on an expensive shell

Valid point and fair assessment, thus why I mentioned it in my initial write up. Is there temperature guidelines on the box that states what temperatures the shells are to be stored at? If so, I must have missed them.

I wonder if it was from the temperature changes from storage?
Possibly, but I have lots of other shells (tons of 1 1/8 ounce light loads and several Nitro 2 7/16 ounce loads) that were stored in the same conditions for the same duration and they did not separate. Some of the light loads have been in there for 5+ years with the temperature fluctuating and they all look good. Point taken though, I will now store my higher priced shells in my climate controlled gun room from this point forward. Furthermore, I doubt I will purchase many more HEVI or Nitro loads as I have started hand loading my own turkey loads, which will NOT be stored out in my shop either. :-) I did not start this thread to bash Environ-Metal, but mainly to make others aware to check their shells before heading out.

I wondered this as well, and googled it.

Apparently, unless shells are stored in the extreme heat of a vehicle during the summer, then there should be no effect, as long as they are dry.

All of my shotgun shells have always (30+ yrs) have been kept in my storage building and have been subject to summer and winter temps with no effect. So, the post was invalid.

They were going to take care of you if you choose to go that route. I
True, but the guy kind of hem and hawed around like it would be a burden of sorts. With that said, he he did close the conversation by saying "we stand behind our products so call me back if I can be of any further assistance to you".
