Check your speed loaders if you hunted this weekend

I use 777 pellets. I shot a deer yesterday and reloaded using a speed loader. My ramrod went down farther than it was supposed to. It was like I forgot a pellet. I got back and pulled the breach plu and pushed the load out. The 2 pellets compressed into each other. I checked my other speed loaders which I had put together Friday night and was able apply a little pressure and they crumbled. Moisture had gotten to them. The never got wet or rained on. Apparently it must have been the moisture in the air.

I haven't used pellets in 30+ years. I prefer loose powders that I can see . More versatile. AnD for this reason. If it's bad I can see it

Use loose powder as well. If the pellets are crumbled into loose powder, they still have the same weight and volume and should produce the same energy.

My speed loaders have caps that are tight, I keep them in a ziplock bag in my pocket.
