checked a bucket list item - deer with a pistol

Sunday morning was good to me. But my buddy and I had a standing agreement that if a nice deer presented a good opportunity within handgun range that it was game on. S&W .44 mag using a 240 grain hard cast bullet going around 1,300fps. Bullet entered at front left shoulder, hit both lungs, top of liver, and exited in front of right rear leg. He ran a fair bit until his lungs filled up but fortunately he never left the field.

Congratulations on your First handgun deer, I haven't hunted with a rifle in years, all my hunting is with handguns, even small game. Actually I started hunting with them in 1979 but would switch back to a rifle occasionally, but would always migrate back to the Shortgun. I have hunted exclusively with a handgun since 2003. Took an Antelope last year in Wyoming @ 260 yds. Keep hunting with that handgun, you'll find it's way more rewarding.
