This came from my mom's recipie book. My favorite thing she used to make.

Chocolate Pudding Cake

Cake:
 cup sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons cocoa
 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted butter, cooled
1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping:
 cup sugar
 cup brown sugar
 cup cocoa
1 cups water

Sift sugar, flour, salt, baking powder and cocoa together into a 9-inch square baking pan. Stir in milk, butter and vanilla. Spread batter in pan. Mix topping, sugars and cocoa and sprinkle over batter. Pour water over all and bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until top springs back when touched. Serve warm or cool.
My personal favorite is to serve it directly out of the oven with ice cream on top of it.

Is this one of those that sort of separates into oozy pudding with a cake layer?

i use to make a white or yellow cake & let it cool, take a wooden spoon & poke holes in it with the handle, make the instant pudding & pour over it & throw in fridge, top with berrys or whip cream or both when pudding is set,mike243

I've never had this kind of cake before. I've heard of it, drooled over it in pictures, but never ate it. It must be destiny because I've actually heard about it 3 times in the last couple of weeks. Guess I'm making a cake this weekend!

Did she really mix it all in the pan she baked it in? If so, that saves on a bowl to clean.

This would have been the perfect dessert to go w/ those yummy chicken nuggets you made us the other night. What's up with you holdin' out on us like that?
