City Deer

This is the one I killed.

Thanks. I'd never seen him before but I couldn't pass him up. This is the biggest buck I've ever killed. I have always been a meat hunter but I was tickled with this guy.

Did he have any visible injury on the left side of his body? Or maybe he had pedicle damage from a fight. Either way a great deer.

Injury would have likely been left rear leg or right front leg. Most times a leg injury will effect opposite antler from the back leg and same side antler from front leg injury.

that was the case with my 8 pt last year

Usually legal due to archery methods.
Its NOT legal to track onto another persons property to track your deer, however, asking permission after the fact will get good results the majority of the time. Be 100% prepared for the odd anti that wont allow you to retrieve a deer, it happens, and is a risk whether hunting a subdivision, or a lease with ornery adjacent landowners.

He had an injury on the front right elbow, or whatever it's called on a deer. I boiled it down along with the R shoulder so I could look at them. I'll post a pic when I get home so you can see. It's pretty interesting.

I also hunt several small tracts of residential city limit hunting in clarksville. I haven't had any issues with neighboring properties with houses. I did have a lady scream from 110 yards away that I cant hunt in city limits after we killed a turkey. Just know your surroundings. also check your city ordinances. Clarksville for instance prohibits firing any projectile. The only exception is hunting. So target practice is not allowed.

I have taken one with a rifle (6.5 Swede), very close to downtown. BUT, it was on an 8 acre piece of property, firing downward into the bottom of a ravine, early in the morning. Absolutely no way for a bullet to escape, and nothing on the opposite side of the ravine. Funny thing was, when I walked back to the house, there was a police car sitting in the parking lot next door, guy doing his paperwork. Either he never heard the shot, or just thought it was normal for that neighborhood (which it is). Doubtful I would do it again, as these circumstances were perfect. I have just used bow since.

BTW, CPD can't complain too much. TCA trumps the city ordnance, plus the CPD range is downtown and they have had constant problems with bullets escaping.

Bristol TN game warden threatened to persecute anyone hunting in city limits, he said the attorney would to the fullest even when I said wirh a bow. I have 52 area behind my house full of deer. He said I cannot. It's clearly away from houses. Any answers
