First-person narrative below posted elsewhere on the internet by an acquaintance. I have absolutely no use for the NFL, and therefore no dog in this fight, but I realize not everyone feels that way. This airline pilot deserves credit for using his considerable discretionary powers to be a class act.

"Last night my flight from DFW was scheduled to take off at 855pm. I boarded at 840, while watching the end of regulation of Bills/Chiefs on my phone. Flight crew completed pre-flight checks, and regulation ended. I was disappointed because I would be missing overtime of one of the greatest playoff games in history.

Suddenly the pilot came on over the PA and informed everyone that the plane needed to take on some extra fuel and we would be sitting a short while longer. I was able to watch as the Chiefs drove down the field and ended the game. Almost immediately, the Pilot came over the PA and said we were now good to go and we began backing out."

Back in The Day, transatlantic flights out of JFK would have the game showing live on the television screens in the cabin when you were boarding. All 10 or 12 of them.
