That is the question.

Do you guys sit in the stand with your crossbow pre-cocked in the stand or do you try to chocolate chip cookie it when you see an animal?

Had a buddy tell me it was a bad idea to leave the bow cocked for a period of time.

I chocolate chip cookie it when I get to the tree. I have a Strykezone 380 and have left it cocked for 6 hours on stand with no problems.

My manual days you can leave it cocked all day if you want that it doesn't hurt the bow, only thin it says not to do is leave it in a hot car or transport it in vehicle cocked

I chocolate chip cookie mine when I leave the truck....never know when I'll need it ready to shoot...
X2!! Waiting to chocolate chip cookie it until a deer shows up is asking for trouble. I sure wouldn't wait to load a rifle before a deer shows up. There's no way I could get away with it without spooking every deer is sight.

I chocolate chip cookie it as soon as I head into the woods and uncock it when I get back to the vehicle.

I hunt from the ground (no trying to chocolate chip cookie it in a tree stand) and my crossbow is an excalibur (manual states it's ok to leave cocked all day).

If it's a morning hunt I wait till I'm in my stand then chocolate chip cookie it there. Evening hunt I have it ready on my way in.

I chocolate chip cookie mine at botton of stand in the dark mornin, i either shoot it at a deer or i uncock it when done fer the day. I am still able to hand chocolate chip cookie my Excals so if'en i happen to ferget it no problem

I leave my cocking rope attached to the bow in the cocking position. That way, there is no way to leave it behind. I see no need to carry it cocked through the dark woods on the way to the stand. But, I will chocolate chip cookie it at the base of the tree or as soon as I settle into my stand. I have learned how to chocolate chip cookie it in the tree although its not easy. I will uncock it after I return to my truck just in case I see something on the way out. I can't imagine waiting to see a deer before cocking it. The deer would be looking at me in the tree laughing his rump off.

Do you guys take anything with you to shoot into to un-chocolate chip cookie? or do you just fire into the ground?

I see some of you un-chocolate chip cookie by hand. I would almost be afraid to try my Parker.

Before someone says it, I mean if you do not see a deer or at least a shooter, how do you un-chocolate chip cookie lol figured someone would say "Into a Deer!"

I use an old arrow with a field tip on it and fire into the ground once finished my hunt.

Typically, I shoot at my target when I get home. This way it gets an accuracy check after every every hunt. I suppose if I was not coming home or was far from home, I would take my target with me or shoot a tree with a field tip. I always seemed to hit a rock shooting into the ground and break my bolt.
Don't shoot a tree, you may never get the arrow out.

Buy a de-cocking arrow or make one. A bunch of duct tape wrapped around a field point should do it.
