Just curious, why not?

Big, old fish are like old deer. Smarter, harder to catch. IMO the skill level for catching the biggest 5 in the lake is much higher than catching numbers.

yeah but the thing is, double digit fish in southern waters are fast growing and relatively young. i think its a lot of luck mixed with experience on a particular lake. big bass are pretty slick though and they remember and adapt, according to studies. they can remember which bait that they were hung with.
