my neighbor did a controlled burn on his huge fields earlier this week to burn off the sage and overgrowth. Use to be cattle pasture but pulled cows out 2 years ago. Not sure what he plans to do now, but assume if he is gonna go to that level he is planning on something. Monday morning had gobbling toms and things were normal. Yesterday morning, nothing to be heard nowere anywhere close to my place or his. Have to assume the burn will have a temporary impact. Anyone have any experience hunting land that has been burned and how long before turkey will resume there usual patterns? Really appreciate any advice.THANKS

Turkeys LOVE LOVE LOVE fresh burns! They will be all over it when the new spouts start popping! I use to be all over control burns down in bama when they did them on our place.

There is nothing that turkeys love than a good burn. It may affect them for a day or so, but they'll pour back soon

I have literally watched them cross a forest road while the burn is still smoking, so much smoke I wouldnt go in and hunt it.

Turkeys like burned fields. They weren't gobbling because they were just not gobbling... I had the same problem a few days ago when I went to a burned area and heard a grand total of 1 gobble across the river. But there's fresh sign all over the burned fields and the turkeys love it

Thanks guys! I kinda figured all the noise going on those couple days may have just made them quiet. They had skidders making firebreaks around field edges, four wheelers helping control the fires, and of course them guys hollering at each other the whole time. It was noisy when I left up there Monday, so I was hoping it would just be a few days. Looking forward to the next few weeks up there now. Maybe get lucky and he will row crop it. I wouldn't mind corn fields next to me!Thanks for sharing y'alls experience.
