I don't recall anybody on here saying he was "the guy". Some people posted links to reports from reputable sports writers that know more about these types of situations than anybody on here, even those that pay subscriptions to team sites, but nobody said he was "the guy".TreyB":pvbyxtj0 said:

You know other fan bases are obsessed and take everything to heart when they are calling the coach by a first name basis! :rotf:. I've noticed bammers and gator fans both know their coaches personally I guess.

Dallas Cowboys were my team growing up. When Jerry Jones Fired Tom Landry the way he did I was ticked off to say the least. But understood it because he hired his lifelong friend Jimmy Johnson Who I respected coming out of Miami Hurricanes all those years. They were great back in the day. Then JJ goes on to win two Superbowls and get rewarded by getting fired. If that was not stupid enough on Jerry Jones part he turns around and fires the next guy Barry Switzer for winning the next Super Bowl.

I'm in the same boat except I never thought Switzer was a good coach. Just won it all because of the players he had. Regardless I want to pull for them but Jones has a serious ego problem and drives me nuts. I haven't watched hardly any NFL this year until the playoffs but he needs to stay off the sidelines.PillsburyDoughboy":1toivot4 said:

My favorite Vol coach is Phil and I have met him several times and the teams back in the 90s. I know we kid around on here about the rival teams but most of this stuff is all in fun. My job and living in Knoxville has given me the opportunity to meet several of the player and coaches over the years.

Nope, simply called him butch jones from day one, I don't usually call people by a first name basis unless I'm good friends with them or family, not cause I met them once.
