So it's all dependent on the time of the year for me. Early and late season I am mostly quiet a grunt or doe bleat here and there. From about mid October through the first week of December I will rattle and use calls more. Usually I use these tools between 0930 and 1500 when the action tends to settle down. What I have learned about rattling is that in my experience 75% of the time they will come in downwind of you. So they may be coming in but if you get winded you are toast. I also do three short sequences of maybe two minutes with each sequence getting a little more aggressive. I usually will do a sequence, about a three minute break and look around and rattle again.
