I fully cleaned. Brushed first from breech, swabbed 2 patch till real faded carbon with rubbing alcohol, then clean patches. Clean breech plug face with bronze brush then wet patch alcohol then dry. The bullets are spire points lead core Barnes not copper.

I am surprised your not shooting something smokeless.
I had a Savage many years ago, stainless laminated. I bedded it, floated the barrel and swapped the trigger out. It shot unreal, but I got talked out of it by a member here. Then no MZ season. My oldest recently got a CVA and I helped him get it shooting and I was impressed.

Mine will shoot low on a clean barrel about 1 1/2" , dead on with a one shot fouled barrel
Yeah...I just zero mine on a clean bore knowing I'm going to hunt for days or even weeks with possibly not pulling the trigger. Dont wanna sit two weeks or longer on a dirty barrell. Last two years I carried my muzzleloader through all of gun season....pulled the trigger once....cleaned and reloaded.

Been real busy so hunted within walking distance since ml opened. Got a good buck that only comes around every 7 to 8 days, so far at night. Checked my long range zero yesterday on a 5 year dirty bore (I hunt with it every year). I didn't adjust anything. Hope he shows up Thurs or Fri morning.
