Well my carp fishing turkey hunting trip went well except for the carp and the turkey part. I always enjoy being on that lake anyway.
Went up Friday afternoon and came back Tuesday afternoon.
I only fished topwater the first morning and missed 2 good fish. Either was hunting or getting rained out after that. Rained good Sunday night into early Monday. Very windy after that and the main lake was rough. A woman drowned a few miles up the lake from me on Sunday. Very sad.
So as for the carp bite, it was almost nonexistent. Maybe cause the water was 5 foot higher than last year, I don't know. I did hook 2 big carp and both pulled loose.
However the catfish bite was hot! I ran 16 limblines Saturday evening, 8 on either side of the creek. Caught all the bait in a cove on a Trout Magnet. Sunday morning I had 9 fish hooked and 1 got off. All channels in the 5-10 pound range.
Sunday night the storms came so I only got one line out with the only bream I could catch. Monday morning there was a big channel cat on the line.
Monday evening I ran 14 limblines and a jug. It was windy across the creek and waves were hard to fight so I left 2 lines empty. Tuesday morning after hunting with no luck, I ran the lines and had 3 flatheads and 2 more channels.
Filled a whole cooler with fillets. Tuesday evening after I got home I portioned out all the fillets and froze them.
Just a couple more pics...
