OR some people only have a small piece of property on which to hunt, and this gives them the best opportunity at success.
Just because one sits on a food plot doesn't mean they are deer hunting them. Most are running a call from time to time, and some may use a decoy. But, as has been pointed out on here several times, decoys are not automatic, and sometimes can be detrimental.
The only times I hunt this way are when I'm taking someone older who would have absolutely NO chance of getting in range of a gobbler. I despise sitting in one spot for hours on end with no action, and am usually ready to hang it up and head home after 2-3 hours.
BUT, when my dad or others have the patience and persistence (two skills that many seem to applaud on here, but why not in this case?), to stay and just enjoy the time being out, whether successful or not, then I endure.
HOWEVER, when it FINALLY comes together and a strutting bird appears, and both of our breathing gets heavier as we anticipate his next move, there is no bigger rush. And IF he just happens to get close enough for a shot, and it connects (had a few that didn't, and they were crushed), the unadulterated PURE JOY that ensues cannot be denied, nor snobbed upon.
