Longhorns look hungry tonight. I am no Texas fan by any means but I have grown to like their an this year. That boy can ball.

I want to see the sec win but I'm not gonna cry if UGA looses. It's actually a good thing as a Vol fan

I have determined that Kirby is an excellent recruiter but lacks at in game coaching and adjustments. Georgia cane out flat and got hit right in the mouth and never could recover. Texas played pretty good. You could tell they wanted the W.

This is the one area that concerns me big time is the lack of adjustment during play. It also seems that Jim Chaney also has this same issue of not being able to audible when the original plan isn't working. UGA announced early in the bowl interviews that our intention was to establish the run game first. Naturally so because that's our brand of football but when a plan is simply not coming to fruition (I.e. a smaller Texas defensive front is eating your larger veteran Oline for lunch)
You have to make adjustments in order to move to the elite level. The offense should have been spread out and given the defense a different look than our typical spreads. It sure did look convincing in the 3rd quarter when we went up tempo and literally marched straight down the field and into the end zone!?!?! Did the coaches have a blind fold on for that drive or something? Yeah it wasn't GA brand ground and pound, in fact it was more reminiscent of a west coast offense BUT it was the only approach all night that yielded actual results and the next possession we went right back to what didn't work the entire first half?!?![emoji2959]

My .02 worth...

UGA had way too many mistakes early and played listless the rest of the way. I could accept some of those, but I fully excepted the offense to come roaring back and overcome them. They just didn't.

I kinda expected UGA to have some defensive struggles due to the DC leaving for a head coaching job, missing several key players due mainly to injuries, but also Baker sitting out for the draft. But there was no excuse for the offense. Most of the key players are back from injuries, but numerous good passes were dropped, Fromm fell off with his accuracy later in the game, the o-line played poorly, and the play calling was flat and uninspired.

A few players acted like they really wanted it the whole way, but most just seemed to lack the hunger once they got down. I also noticed that many players that had played sparingly throughout the season were getting substantial playing time throughout the game, so I don't know if there were other discipline issues or if Smart was just determined to try some young guys out.

Added to that... Richt was at UGA when UF and TN was a lot better than they are now. Kirby walked into a loaded roster with the East being the weakest its ever been.

What's your point? I'm not upset with Richt or his time at UGA. Kirby is still learning to be a head coach. Many head coaches start out rocky, and I'd say that Kirby's start is far better than most coaches' starts, including many of the greats, and at a much higher level of competition. I'm not happy with some of the decisions and play calls in some specific games, but overall feel that Kirby is doing a great job while learning from his mistakes. Hopefully the in game adjustments will improve.

Maybe it would have helped if they would have been in the final four?

He's certainly a winning coach . He's just in a really tough conference with Florida LSU SC GT auburn and ALABAMA .

That loss to LSU was pretty glaring of where they would be in the mix of things come for the chase for NC IMHO

I still think they should have been in the playoff even with two losses. They looked very uninspired to start the game and dug themselves a hole. The Georgia team that whipped bama for most of the game would thump Texas. I'm not taking anything away from Texas because they played a great game defensively and did what they had to do to win.

Really?? They got their arses handed to them by LSU pretty solidly. Then could not win a crappy bowl game against Texas who was a 3 loss team. They are good but they are just not there yet.

I think they should have been in over ND. UGA had Bama on the ropes and split wins against OK who made the playoffs. When they didn't make the playoffs IMO most didn't care about that game last night.

The point of the top 4 is not who should be in the top 4 but who are the top 4 teams. You could make a argument that Georgia might be the better team over ND yes and it might be true. But it would not change the outcome of who would win the NC regardless. I feel that is the way it has been every year.

Lots of people made that same argument for ND last year. That they should have been in the top 4 over ALABAMA. But they would not have won the NC.

My point is that Georgia is a top 4 team and deserves to be in. And who's to say that it wouldn't change the outcome of the playoff? They have already proven that they can beat Bama. If they are in the playoff, they have just as good of a chance to win it than Bama does. They spanked bama's butt for 3 quarters. That midfield blunder of a 4th down at midfield changed everything in my opinion. Notre Dame doesn't deserve to get in until they play a conference schedule in my opinion. Notre Dame is the darling of the media, so they will always get in when they have a good record regardless of who they play.

Ur kidding right? The last Georgia victory over Alabama came Sept. 22, 2007 in Tuscaloosa. The 26–23 Georgia win came in Nick Saban's first season at Alabama. That's far from proven they can beat ALABAMA. Far from it. They have come up short the last 4 meetings. SHORT. You gotta play a full game and so far Georgia has not played a full game. ALABAMA has.

Georgia would not have won the NC this year. They could not get past a 3 team loss Texas. Not a chance they would have made it. Not last season and this season.

There is always next year.
