I agree. I don't know what else he is supposed to say when asked the question.
Except maybe don't say there were times at different points in the season when they struggled "just a little bit"; I'd say those were full-blown struggles.
I'm hoping Bama gets in but they are so inconsistent that there is no telling what to expect in their next game (playoff or bowl). I'm ready for a quarterback who can run DeBoer's whole offense.

Pretty much every coach in this position has responded in a similar way when asked.
I can't say I blame him but cry me a freaking river. If they get in the whole thing is fixed and a sham.

He's campaigning for his team. Calm it what you want but I don't blame him. I hope they get in but if they don't then they did it to themselves.
I feel 100% certain that Alabama will be placed into the playoffs. I don't hate Bama, I do have some anti-Bama bias, but I think Ole Miss and USCe have better football to offer the playoffs. Even Miami has better potential to play better football than Alabama. But, as I've said many times these past weeks, Alabama will get in on legacy not merit. They are for sure in the conversation, deservedly so. And if they go on and win a game or three, that does not in any way vindicate the committee for "picking the right team".

The ugly loss to Oklahomo should have them out, but you get mediocre teams with 12 teams. As I said 11 and 12 are Miss Congeniality awards.
Deboer and PDB discussed their options, and they decided this was their best one.
