Decoy scared him off....

I used the avian x decoys , both my gobblers shot this year came toward them . Had a hen went and layed down right beside the hen . I use the foam decoys last and scared every bird I seen .
 
I've used a decoy the last two hunts this week. In both cases I had 4 gobblers within sight of the decoy, but only one acted like he cared. I walked about 3 feet towards it, then turned and walked off. Unfortunately, my position was based on expecting the gobblers to come into the decoy, so I was out of position to take the shots when they didn't. Lesson learned.

It all may depend on if a bird has been previously spooked around dekes. I've used them often and had many more birds respond to them than have been spooked by them. Occasionally no calling is required if they can spot the dekes from a distance.
