DIY rod socks

I wonder if you could find some sort of a cheap wax to dip the tips in and let it harden?

wax would prolly crumble. i imagine you could melt the end with a torch like you would with a nylon rope. gonna order some materials from amazon and see how it goes. the problem i have with the store bought ones is length, and some are short for the rod length listed. here is another diy article that i think i posted a few weeks ago, but cant remember:

There has to be something similar, because I've seen it done. Well, I've seen the end result of another guy who had done it. I just don't know what he used. It was something similar to the kind of "wax" on a Makers Mark bottle.

i bet it was this stuff i used to redip tool handles. when it dries it turns to plastic. probably cheaper than buying different sizes of heat shrink tubing. lol youd only need 1 bottle to dip a couple hundred.

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

14.5 oz. Black Plasti Dip

probably but my can dried up, after i opened it. i have a can of flex seal that stays liquid after you open it and i bet it would work too. i repaired some gutter seams with it and it was like rubber after it dried.

Now if I could just get used to hooking the lures on the bottom of the rod on the hanger and not stab myself every time I touch a rod I would have it made. :D

Just too many years of hanging them on the first eye I guess. :D
