With archery kickin up this weekend I've been going through my checklist for the 500th time and ensuring I have everything packed and ready to go. Thought it might be a good time to post up the thing you're prone to forgetting to take into the woods to helpfully make it stick in a brother's mind so they don't make the same mistake.

I'll go first, forgot quiver once. Not forgot it at my truck either. Like literally left it at the house and had to unhook the trailer and drive back home to get it. Thankfully it was only 15 mins away.

EDIT: To be clear, this post isn't meant only for archery. More of a general, what have you forgotten in the woods. I say archery because that's all I do and that's what's closest.

Dropped my release 1 time in the dark and low crawled 100y through the waist high wet grass, I don't miss bow hunting 1 bit lol

I never wear my boots driving to go hunt I always put them on when it get where I hunt. This is usually a 45 min drive got there and was wearing tennis shoes and forgot to bring my hunting boots. Don't forget your boots lol.

Yup, hunted in Crocs one time

Think I've done most of the above a time or two.

But most "memorable" forgetting was once going into the South Cherokee via boat across Parkville Lake (Lake Ocoee). After beaching the boat on the far shore, then climbing several hundred yards to the special "spot", it was still pre-dawn, when I suddenly whiffed the very strong aroma of bear.

I "thought" there were 3 rounds in my magazine, so decided to chamber a round then get more ammo out of my pack. Not only were there no cartridges in my magazine, but I had no ammo in my pack.

It was a beautiful early November morning, and I was happy to not see the bear I was smelling. Right after sunrise, I went back to the boat, back across the lake, and headed home (where I had left all the ammo).

Have never again forgotten my ammo.

Back in my youth I forgot to dress warm enough in that stupidity of youth. In PA for opening day after thanksgiving, temp around freezing, cotton longjohns, jersey gloves, robin hood style hat, army fatigue pants carbon stick handwarmer and jacket. Handwarmer never started, had both gloves on my left hand, froze my tail feathers off quickly and thank goodness a buck came by after 2 hours on stand so I could get back to camp by the fire…last time I didn't have the right gear…
