Dr Michael Chamberlain - Turkey Tuesday

Partly why we have already killed 22,000 turkeys.

Re: Dr Michael Chamberlain - Turkey Tuesday

And yet my prediction is that many TN turkey hunters and TWRA biologists will view the record harvest as a good thing and this indirect evidence of population trends will be misinterpreted as direct evidence that turkeys are just fine in TN and nothing should be changed.

Get ready for some lean years in the southeast after this spring. Worst we've seen in 2 decades.

I said in an earlier post that the only potential to reverse the damage in subsequent years is to postpone season opening until April 21st, cut limit to 2, and end season on May 15th. Sucks to give up days afield, but better to have a few birds to hunt in 3 weeks rather ather than spend 6 weeks afield without a single gobble.

South MS has been hit HARD! I spent the past 4 days looking for a bird... 25 miles hiked, didn't hear a single gobble or cut a single track... and right now is our prime time as most hens have started setting.

But the good thing is that for those willing to travel west, there should be some unreal hunting next year with a very high carryover from this years birds.

Thanks for sending this and again it's simply unfathomable that agency authorities sit idly by.

They will claim population is stable as always, and they do that just so that folks will buy licenses.

I tried to look at WMA harvest today on the mobile app, but it wasn't available. It was a few days ago because I used it. They must be trying to hide something.

When they stopped making the summer brood surveys available online in 2015, they were trying to hide something. It's easier to put a positive spin on stable or increased harvest numbers if you don't let people know about the simultaneous and continuous plummet in poult production numbers. As for the County/WMA search feature - who knows. The system completely imploded last year. So maybe its just a glitch.
