Another tip. During the summer dig up a couple buckets full of dry dirt and sift the garbage out of it. Put in the attic or shed with the lid off to let it dry all the way out. When trapping season comes, you have dry dirt to make/blend sets.
Works good with other materials too. Peat moss, dry grass/hay, I even have a bag of dog hair from combing out the farm dog. Dog hair works great on pee post sets.

Doesn't take too long to make waxed dirt. I fill up four 5 gallon buckets dirt during summer & sit in my shop. Use gas grill & aluminum turkey pan to heat up dirt/sand/peat/wax mixture. Pour it out on a piece of tin to cool. While cooling, cook up another batch. Make a seasons worth in a couple hours.

Tellico, do you mix dirt sand and peat? If so what ratio? The only issues I have with sand is it take sooo much to bed a trap

Years ago we had some waxed dirt left over and mixed some peat in with it to make it go farther, worked great! 👍
