Durability of Deer

Years ago, I remember seeing a grad student's research project from an archery only WMA in Wisconsin. Harvested bucks had to be checked, and the grad student and a team of others volunteered to skin any buck hunters wanted skinned. What the student was looking for was old archery wounds. The got hundreds of buck skins to analyze. What they found was shocking. The average number of past arrow wounds per buck was just over 3! The record-holder was 7 past arrow wounds! Yes, deer are tough critters!
